If you want to make real money with GTA 6, the most reliable routes don't depend on Rockstar: sell skills like thumbnails, editing and voice-overs to the wave of new GTA creators, and start a YouTube channel before February 1, 2027, when YouTube doubles the bar for new channels to earn from ads. Below, every way to profit from Grand Theft Auto VI is ranked from S tier to F tier (F means don't), plus the rules and dates that decide who gets paid.
Every way to make money from GTA 6, ranked

| A | Livestreaming the launch | $0–$300 | 1–3 months | Medium |
| A | Shorts and TikTok as a funnel | $0 | 1–6 months, very uneven | Medium |
| B | Building FiveM assets | $0–$500 | 1–6 months | Medium |
| B | Roleplay streaming | $0 with a PC and GTA V | 3–12 months | Medium to high |
| B | A guide website | $15–$200 a year | 3–12 months | High |
| B | Affiliate links | $0 | Weeks, once you have traffic | Low, but tiny payouts |
| C | Running your own roleplay server | Hundreds to thousands of dollars a month | 3–12+ months; many never break even | High |
| D | Waiting for Rockstar creator payouts | n/a | Unknown: nothing announced | Speculative |
| F | Selling GTA$ or accounts, leaks, fake downloads, Rockstar-branded merch, AI fakes, real-money servers | n/a | Never | Lawsuits, bans, malware |
Who actually gets paid, and what Rockstar allows
Official The money around GTA is real. Take-Two said spending inside GTA Online jumped 27% in the last quarter of 2025, and GTA+ memberships nearly doubled year on year. Reported According to leaked data from an April 2026 breach, GTA Online reportedly earned about $1.3 million a day from September 2025 to March 2026, roughly 74% of it from Shark Cards. Rockstar hasn't confirmed those figures.
Official A Megalodon Shark Card costs $99.99 for GTA$10,000,000 on the PlayStation Store. Reported But the same leak says only about 4% of GTA Online's nearly 10 million weekly players spent anything. A small slice of players funds the whole machine, and creator platforms look the same:
- Official Roblox paid creators $1.5 billion in 2025, and its top 1,000 creators averaged $1.3 million each: about 87% of the pool, by our math.
- Official Fortnite paid creators $352 million in 2024, and just 58 of about 70,000 creators made more than $1 million.
The lesson: ignore "average creator makes this much" screenshots.

Rockstar pays creators in GTA$, not dollars
Official When Rockstar featured player-made jobs in its Community Series showcase in March 2026, every featured creator got GTA$10 million plus an in-game jacket and trophy. Not a cent of it was real cash, so real money has to come from elsewhere: platforms, clients, advertisers, retailers and roleplay servers.
Rockstar's video policy: tolerated, not licensed
Official Rockstar's written video policy, last updated January 10, 2025, describes the fan use it allows as "non-commercial", meaning you don't make money from the footage. It never says you may monetize GTA videos, and Rockstar can take material down at any time. In practice, monetized GTA channels are everywhere, so our read is that you're working on Rockstar's tolerance, not a license. Official The policy spells out what gets taken down:
- leaked footage
- spoilers, such as the ending and edited compilations of cutscenes (cutscenes inside a longer playthrough are fine)
- in-game TV shows posted on their own
- videos that promote cheats, glitches or account selling
The GTA 6 money timeline: what opens when
Most "make money with GTA 6" videos talk as if everything opens on November 19. It doesn't.
| Date | What happens | Status |
|---|---|---|
| November 19, 2026 | GTA 6 launches on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S as a single-player game | Official |
| January 31, 2027 | Deadline for YouTube partners to accept the new terms | Official |
| February 1, 2027 | New YouTube channels need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views; Shorts pay needs 10 million views every 90 days | Official |
| 2027 | GTA 6 multiplayer, according to Twitch's CEO | Rumor |
| Not announced | A PC version, GTA 6 roleplay servers, creator payouts | Official |
Official Rockstar calls GTA 6 "a single player experience", and it launches on consoles only. No PC version has been announced; for context, GTA V took about 19 months to reach PC. Rumor Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg he expects multiplayer next year, and that Twitch has been talking with Rockstar about creators. That's his expectation, not Rockstar's announcement.
Reported Roleplay still lives on GTA V. Rockstar backed NoPixel V, a new version of the best-known roleplay server, whose invite-only beta opened on the Rockstar Games Launcher on September 8, 2026, for about 450 creators. Day one, then, is for videos, clips, streams, services and websites; 2027 might bring multiplayer; and anything that breaks the rules never pays. For every confirmed launch detail, see our GTA 6 release date and platforms guide.

S tier: sell your skills, and start a channel before February 1
Sell your skills to other GTA creators
Every new GTA 6 channel needs thumbnails, editing, scripts and voice-overs. Official Fiverr's June 2026 trends index had demand for YouTube thumbnails up 52%, video editing up 36%, and YouTube automation and faceless work up more than 200%.
Official Upwork's rate guides put median rates around $35 an hour for video editors, $40 for writers and $55 for voice actors. Reported Fiverr keeps 20% of each sale.
Why S tier? You don't need an audience, just 3 to 5 good samples, and your first dollar can come in weeks, not months, from exactly the clients the launch creates. Make samples for channels that don't exist yet: redesign the thumbnail of a GTA video you like, or edit a 60-second clip from your own gameplay. Then pitch small channels directly, or list a gig.

Start a YouTube channel before February 1
Official Today, YouTube lets you earn from ads once you have 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 public watch hours in 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. From February 1, 2027, new channels need 8,000 hours or 20 million Shorts views, so launch season is your window to qualify under the old rules. Already in the program? Accept the new terms by January 31, 2027.
Official An earlier level, at 500 subscribers, 3 uploads in 90 days and 3,000 watch hours (or 3 million Shorts views), unlocks memberships, Super Thanks and brand deals. On long videos, YouTube pays creators 55% of the ad revenue, and videos of 8 minutes or more can run mid-roll ads.
How much a GTA channel can make
The number to watch is RPM: what you actually earn for every 1,000 views, after YouTube's cut. It depends on your niche, your audience and the time of year. For GTA channels it runs from about $2 to $15. NexLev's model puts the median for monetized GTA channels at about $2.31, and long, well-researched videos sit at the top of the range: our own 20-minute GTA videos earn $10 to $15 per 1,000 views right now, according to our YouTube Studio (October 2026). Official Advertisers also tend to bid more before the holidays, which is exactly when GTA 6 launches.
Here's the math. If a 20-minute video gets 100,000 views at a $10 RPM, that's 100,000 ÷ 1,000 × $10 = $1,000 from one video. Stack enough of those and one channel can bring in around $2,000 to $10,000 a month. We know, because GameSight is doing it right now, as a one-channel business. That's our result, not a promise: plenty of channels earn far less, and views are never guaranteed.
Treat the channel as a business, with costs, investment, revenue and profit. Editors, scriptwriters, voice actors and thumbnail designers all cost money if you hire them, so your process matters as much as your views. To stay monetizable:
- Official YouTube's inauthentic content rules demonetize videos that look templated or mass-produced, and videos that just read other sites' articles aloud. AI tools are allowed; copy-paste channels aren't.
- Official Keep graphic violence out of your thumbnail and your first 7 seconds.
- Official Turn the in-game radio down or keep songs short, because licensed music gets Content ID claims.
A tier: stream the launch, and use Shorts and TikTok as a funnel
Livestreaming the launch
Official Twitch made Affiliate much easier in June 2026: 25 followers, 4 hours of streaming on 4 different days and an average of 3 viewers. Payouts start at $50. Subscriptions split 50/50, rising to 70/30 through the Plus Program if you keep enough recurring subs, and Kick pays streamers 95% of subs.
Reported The audience is huge: Stream Hatchet ranked GTA V the second most-watched game on livestreams in 2025, with about 1.9 billion hours, and when Rockstar premiered its Extended Look in August 2026, Streams Charts counted more than 9,000 streamers live and a peak of about 3.97 million viewers at once.
That's also the problem: launch day will be crowded, and small streamers get found through clips, not directories. Streaming the story means spoilers, so keep endings out of titles and thumbnails. Official One YouTube bonus: public livestreams you keep as videos count toward watch hours.
Shorts and TikTok: your growth engine
Official YouTube creators keep 45% of their share of the Shorts revenue pool. TikTok's Creator Rewards needs 10,000 followers, 100,000 views in the last 30 days and original videos at least a minute long, and it's only available in a handful of countries. Copyrighted music playing for more than a minute makes a TikTok video ineligible.
Official From February 2027, YouTube Shorts only pay if you have 10 million Shorts views every 90 days. For most small channels, Shorts are how you get found, not how you get paid.

B tier: FiveM assets, RP streaming, guide sites and affiliate links
Building FiveM assets
Official Scripts, maps, vehicles and clothing for FiveM roleplay servers now have an official store, the Cfx Marketplace, which opened on January 12, 2026. It's curated: Tebex partners who make FiveM assets can apply to list. It takes real skill, such as Lua scripting or 3D modeling, and it all runs on GTA V for now.
One warning came from a FiveM developer in the comments of our May 2026 video: paid "full server packs" are often scams built on leaked assets. Don't buy them; learn a free framework instead.
Roleplay streaming
Reported Many of the most-watched GTA streamers are roleplayers, and Streams Charts found most of 2025's top GTA streamers were mainly on Kick. In July 2026, GTA V drew 82.5 million hours watched on Kick against 49.5 million on Twitch. The catch: the top servers are invite-only, and NoPixel V's beta is limited to a few hundred creators.
A guide website
Official Google AdSense gives publishers 80% of the revenue and pays out once you reach $100. Big guide sites pull millions of visits a month, by Similarweb's estimates. Reported But it's slower than it looks: an affiliate consultant told Press Gazette that Google's AI answers have cut traffic to some buyer's guides and reviews by as much as half. We run one ourselves, the site you're reading, alongside our GameSight videos, and it's a long game.
Affiliate links
Official Amazon's US Associates program pays 1% on physical video games and 2% on digital ones. On a $79.99 copy of GTA 6, 1% comes to about $0.80. Fine as a bonus, not a business, and always disclose your links.
C and D tier: your own RP server, or waiting for Rockstar to pay
C tier: running your own roleplay server
Official On September 10, 2026, Rockstar updated the Creator Platform License Agreement that every FiveM and RedM server runs under. Its section 3.1 bans eight ways of making money:
- Real-money cash-outs, including gambling
- Loot boxes, gacha and other random draws
- Selling in-game currency
- Selling access to Rockstar's own items
- Brand-sponsored servers
- Reselling other people's server content
- Ads and sponsorships inside servers
- Crypto, NFTs, tokens and meme coins
Official Whatever you sell, such as memberships or cosmetics, has to go through Tebex, Rockstar's one authorized payment partner, and Tebex's own docs list a 15% platform fee for FiveM (its pricing page still shows 5%). Your server can't use Rockstar's logos in its name, has to say it isn't endorsed by Rockstar, and the legal and tax side is all on you.
Reported Then there are the costs: NoPixel was paying about $10,000 a month just for servers in 2021, before paying a single developer. And all of this applies to GTA V: there's no GTA 6 roleplay at launch.
D tier: waiting for Rockstar to pay creators
Reported Digiday reported in February 2025 that Rockstar had talked with top Roblox and Fortnite creators about building experiences inside GTA 6, and in July 2025 that it was hiring a creator platform team, including someone to build monetization tools. Official Take-Two's CEO said on its February 2026 earnings call that the company has always welcomed user-generated content. But nothing is announced: no tools, no payout model, no date. With Rockstar's current rewards paid in GTA$, treat creator payouts as a bonus, not a business.
F tier: the red lines
F tier isn't low pay. F tier means don't.
- Selling GTA$, modded accounts, boosting or money drops. Official Rockstar's terms say in-game currency has no monetary value and can't be sold, and accounts can't be sold either. Reported Take-Two is suing the marketplace PlayerAuctions over exactly these listings, and in 2019 a GTA Online cheat maker was ordered to pay $150,000 in damages plus $66,868 in legal fees.
- Leaked footage. Reported In August 2026, after the CyberLeek leaks, Take-Two sought DMCA subpoenas to identify accounts that reposted the clips, including three YouTube channels. Leaks get views for a day and lawyers for months; the CyberLeek story shows how that ends.
- Fake downloads and betas. There's no GTA 6 beta, no early access and no PC version. Kaspersky's research found GTA was the No. 1 game used as bait for malware, with 4,456,499 attempted attacks between April 2024 and March 2025. Reported In September 2026, security firm Huntress found a fake "leaked GTA 6" download bundled with password stealers and ransomware.
- Merch with Rockstar's logos or names. Reported Take-Two sent a cease-and-desist to a real-life Cluckin' Bell pop-up in 2023.
- AI fakes. Reported In April 2026, a GTA 6 fan account that posted AI-made "screenshots" as if they were real got a cease-and-desist.
- "Earn real money" servers. Official Rockstar's new license bans real-money cash-outs and crypto, so any GTA server promising you real money is an F.

Our take: a five-week plan before launch
Our read: GTA 6 will make real money for the people who start early, learn the rules and make something others actually want to watch. It's a numbers game, and the clock is already running. Here's what we'd do before November 19:
- Pick one lane: skills, a channel or streaming. Not all three.
- Build proof: 3 to 5 samples if you're selling a skill, 3 to 5 videos if you're starting a channel.
- Plan launch week now. That's when the most people will search for help with the map, the editions, tips, first steps and even the age rating. Have your ideas and thumbnails ready before November 19; our GTA 6 countdown tracks the days.
- Do the boring stuff early: turn on two-step verification, set up your AdSense account and learn what Rockstar takes down.
- Protect yourself: no early copies, no betas, no "GTA 6 on PC" downloads. They don't exist.
- Aim to qualify before February 1. Public launch streams you keep as videos count toward your watch hours.
- Build something you own, like an email list or a Discord server, so you're not relying on one algorithm.
FAQ
Can you make real money from GTA 6?
Yes, but mostly around the game, not from Rockstar. The most reliable routes are selling skills like editing and thumbnails to GTA creators and starting a YouTube channel early. Earnings vary widely, and nothing guarantees income.
Can you monetize GTA 6 videos on YouTube?
Monetized GTA channels are everywhere, but Rockstar's written video policy only covers "non-commercial" fan use and never grants permission to monetize. Treat it as tolerated, not licensed, and avoid what Rockstar takes down: leaks, endings, cutscene compilations and in-game TV posted on its own.
Can you sell GTA$ or a GTA Online account for real money?
No. Rockstar's terms say in-game currency has no monetary value and can't be sold, and neither can accounts. Take-Two is even suing the marketplace PlayerAuctions over modded accounts, money drops and boosting.
What changes on YouTube on February 1, 2027?
New channels will need 1,000 subscribers plus 8,000 watch hours in a year, or 20 million Shorts views in 90 days, to earn from ads, double today's bar. Earning from the Shorts pool will also require 10 million Shorts views every 90 days. Channels already in the program keep their status but must accept the new terms by January 31, 2027.
How much does a GTA YouTube channel make per 1,000 views?
For GTA channels, RPM (what you earn per 1,000 views after YouTube's cut) runs from about $2 to $15. Long, well-researched videos earn the most: our own 20-minute videos earn $10 to $15 per 1,000 views as of October 2026. So 100,000 views at a $10 RPM comes to about $1,000.
Will GTA 6 have roleplay servers at launch?
No. GTA 6 launches as a single-player game on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, and roleplay still runs on GTA V through FiveM and NoPixel V. Rockstar hasn't announced a GTA 6 online mode, a PC version or custom servers.
