GTA 6 comes out on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and Rockstar Games has not announced a PC version. In the US, the Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. Pre-orders are open, digital pre-loading starts on November 12, and no edition gets early access.

GTA 6 release date: November 19, 2026

Official Rockstar's pre-order announcement of June 24, 2026, confirms the date: Grand Theft Auto VI launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's official GTA VI site lists the same date and platforms.

Official Every edition unlocks on that day. None of them gets early access, so the Ultimate Edition's extra $20 buys you extras, not a head start.

Is November 19 still the date?

Yes. Reported For nine days in August, leaked clips of the game spread online. Official Rockstar stayed quiet until August 26, then issued a statement that kept November 19 in place and pointed fans to its official Extended Look the next day.

Every other date on the calendar lines up with it. Pre-loading opens on November 12, the Collector's box arrives on November 19, and the Miami Heat have booked a Vice City night for November 18, the eve of launch. To see exactly how long is left, check our GTA 6 countdown.

Platforms: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, no PC version announced

Official Grand Theft Auto VI is announced for two platforms: PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar's June 24 announcement names only those two, and Rockstar's support site lists the same pair. No PC version has been announced, and no other console version has been announced either. For what it's worth, Rockstar's own gameplay showcase, An Extended Look, was captured on PS5.

What Take-Two has said about PC

Official Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told Bloomberg on May 4, 2026, that Rockstar starts on console, while noting that PC can make up 45% to 50% of a big game's sales. That describes how Rockstar works and what PC is worth to the business. It is not an announcement, and no PC version, date or price has been given.

The Q1 2027 PC report

Reported On October 13, 2026, GamesBeat reported that Rockstar plans to release GTA 6 on PC in the first quarter of 2027, citing four industry sources familiar with the studio's plans who asked not to be named. Rockstar didn't respond to GamesBeat's request for comment, and it hasn't announced a PC version, date or price. If the report is right, PC players would wait a few months rather than the roughly 19 months GTA V took to reach PC. Our read: it's the most specific PC report so far, but treat it as a report until Rockstar says so. Our GTA 6 PC release page tracks every PC update.

The PC build rumor

Rumor During the August leaks, a claim spread on X that the footage came from a PC build of the game. It was never proven. The claim now carries a Community Note on X saying there's no public evidence, and no developer has backed it on the record by name. Even if it were true, an internal build says nothing about if or when Grand Theft Auto VI comes to PC.

How much is GTA 6? Every edition and price

Official Rockstar confirmed the prices on June 24, 2026. These are the US prices announced at the start of pre-orders. Prices vary by region, so check your local store.

EditionUS priceFormatWhat you get
Standard Edition$79.99Digital, or a download code in a boxThe full game
Ultimate Edition$99.99Digital onlyThe full game plus 16 exclusive extras
The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection$399.99Physical box from the Rockstar StoreLimited collectibles; the game is sold separately

Official The Ultimate Edition's 16 extras don't all land on day one. Rockstar says they're threaded through Jason and Lucia's story, with new items unlocking chapter by chapter. They range from cars such as the '95 Grotti Cheetah to engraved guns, outfits and five businesses that only open with the Ultimate Edition: Rideout Customs, Sara's Unisex Salon, Stock 305, Electric Fang Tattoo and One-Eyed Willie's.

Official The $399.99 Collector's box is sold on the Rockstar Store while supplies last, and it arrives on November 19. Its 11 items include a Macca the Gator figure, Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a New Era 9FORTY cap and a double-sided poster with a full map of Leonida on the back. Rockstar says details for Asia, Latin America and Australia are still to come. For every item in every edition, and whether the Ultimate Edition is worth the extra $20, read our Standard vs Ultimate Edition guide.

Pre-orders, pre-load and launch-week dates

Official Pre-orders for the Standard and Ultimate Editions opened on June 25, 2026, the day after Rockstar's announcement. Pre-orders for the Collector's box followed on September 24. Here's what buying before launch gets you, and when:

  • Official Vintage Vice City Pack: included with every pre-order and every purchase made before November 20, on any edition. You get a '55 Vapid Stanier with a Shore Court garage near Ocean Beach, retro outfits for Jason and Lucia, and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti's palm-tree shirt.
  • Official A free month of GTA+: for digital pre-orders only. GTA+ is the membership for the existing GTA Online, with GTA$500,000 a month, bonus Shark Card cash, free and discounted vehicles and a games library. A nice extra, but not one for Grand Theft Auto VI's story.
  • Official Pre-load from November 12: digital pre-orders can download early. The boxed Standard Edition, which holds a download code, is available the same day so you can pre-load that version too.
  • Official Launch on November 19: the game unlocks for every edition, and the Collector's box arrives.

Reported Rockstar hasn't named an hour yet. PlayStation Store listings point to midnight local time, starting in New Zealand; our GTA 6 release time guide has the unlock time for every time zone.

How many people have pre-ordered?

Reported Market tracker Sensor Tower estimates about 6.45 million digital pre-orders worth roughly $630 million as of October 18, up from about 6.08 million a week earlier, Insider Gaming and GTA Intel reported on October 20. Around 74% of those are on PlayStation (about 4.8 million) and 26% on Xbox (about 1.66 million). These are outside estimates of digital sales only: boxed copies aren't counted, and neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has published a pre-order number.

GTA 6 trailers and An Extended Look

Rockstar's official Grand Theft Auto VI videos are three trailers (Trailer 1, Trailer 2 and the Launch Trailer) and one long gameplay showcase, An Extended Look. All of them are official Rockstar footage, unlike the leaked clips that circulated in August.

Trailer 1 and Trailer 2

Official Trailer 1 opens on Lucia Caminos being asked whether she knows why she's there, and she blames bad luck. Game Informer's cover story later filled in the backstory: when players first meet Lucia, she has just been released from prison. The trailer's theme is that she and Jason Duval only get through this by sticking together. Rockstar then released Trailer 2.

The Launch Trailer (October 15, 2026)

Official Rockstar released the Grand Theft Auto VI Launch Trailer on October 15, 2026, about a month before release. It's Rockstar's third trailer for the game, and the one many fans had been calling "Trailer 3". Official It's set to "Flower in a Hurricane", a new single from Justice featuring Tame Impala and SZA with King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, and Rockstar named Justice as the composers of the game's original score, with a score album to follow. Our read: it leans on Jason's early story, before he met Lucia. We went through it frame by frame in our Launch Trailer breakdown.

An Extended Look (August 27, 2026)

Official Rockstar announced Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on August 6, 2026. It premiered on Netflix on Thursday, August 27, at 3 p.m. ET, and reached YouTube and Rockstar's site at 9 p.m. ET. It runs about 26 minutes and was captured on PS5. Three moments from it that we keep coming back to: Jason and Lucia holding up the Hank's Waffles diner, Lucia texting Jason in the middle of a mission, and Lucia walking into a high-rise party with a sharp black bob and a blazer.

The leak week before it

Reported The premiere capped a rough stretch for Rockstar. From August 18 to 26, leaked clips of the game circulated online. Official Take-Two filed copyright subpoenas in federal court in New York on August 20 to unmask the leaker, while Rockstar said nothing until August 26. Its statement that day called the leaks heartbreaking for the team, said this was not how it wanted fans to see the game, and kept both the next day's premiere and November 19 in place.

The magazine run

Reported Dazed put GTA 6 on its cover on August 26, the same day as Rockstar's leak statement, and LBB Online later reported it was the magazine's best-performing cover story ever, selling out in under an hour. Rockstar shared it on its own channels.

Official Game Informer followed on September 29 with a 14-page cover story in issue 382, written by Marcus Stewart and built on interviews with Rockstar's Aaron Garbut, Rupert Humphries, Paul MacPherson, Owen Shepherd and Michael Kane. It detailed Leonida's six regions on a map Garbut describes as roughly twice as large as GTA V's, plus localized storms and hurricanes, more than 170 animal species and a new police Heat system. Our Game Informer cover story breakdown goes through every system.

Official Then came LOVE, a fashion and culture magazine. It teased its Jason and Lucia cover on Instagram on October 2, and Issue 27 went on sale on October 5 at €25 per cover, with an interview featuring seven Rockstar developers. The GTA cover was listed as sold out the same day, and unlike Dazed and Game Informer, it got no post from Rockstar itself. Our LOVE magazine interview breakdown covers what the developers said.

Official Outside the press, the Miami Heat announced on October 2 that their November 18 game against the Milwaukee Bucks will be A Night in Vice City, with a new uniform and merchandise. That's the night before GTA 6 launches. It's part of a wider push in the real Miami: read how Miami Beach voted to put Vice City branding on its beaches from October 15.

Official October brought more from Rockstar itself. On October 7, IGN published its full interview with Rob Nelson of Rockstar North, the longest look yet at how the game plays; our IGN interview breakdown and our GTA 6 vs GTA 5 guide cover what's new. On October 8, Rockstar previewed the game's radio stations on its Newswire and opened a Grand Theft Auto VI collection of apparel and collectibles on the Rockstar Store, separate from the $399.99 Collector's box. Reported Beebom and GTA BOOM list T-shirts and caps at $29.99 and report that the store ships to about 30 countries.

Age rating, online play and what isn't announced

Age rating

Official The ESRB gave Grand Theft Auto VI an M rating in the US on October 1, 2026, about seven weeks before launch. It came in the same week as Game Informer's cover story and the Miami Heat's Vice City announcement. Our GTA 6 age rating guide explains every descriptor, plus PEGI 18 in Europe and the other boards that have rated the game.

Single player and GTA Online

Grand Theft Auto VI is a single player experience.

Rockstar Games, Newswire, June 24, 2026

Official That's how Rockstar described the game when it announced pre-orders, and none of the editions mention an online mode for Grand Theft Auto VI. The only online extra is the free GTA+ month for digital pre-orders, and that applies to the existing GTA Online.

Not announced yet

  • Official A PC version: Rockstar has announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only.
  • Official Any other console version: none has been announced.
  • Official An online mode for GTA 6: none of the editions mention one.
  • Official Collector's box details for Asia, Latin America and Australia: Rockstar says they're still to come.

Our take: plan around November 19

This section is our analysis, not Rockstar's word. Our read is that November 19 looks as firm as a release date gets before launch. When Rockstar finally addressed the August leaks, it used the moment to reaffirm the date, and since then the game has picked up an ESRB rating, a ship date for the Collector's box and an NBA night booked for the eve of launch. None of that is a guarantee, but it's what a locked-in date looks like from the outside.

The campaign has also moved well beyond gaming: a Netflix premiere, fashion covers in Dazed and LOVE, and a basketball night themed on Vice City. LOVE says many projections call GTA 6 possibly the biggest entertainment launch ever, and Game Informer's Marcus Stewart argues it isn't hyperbole to call it the biggest video game ever released. With GTA V now 13 years old, Rockstar is selling GTA 6 on exactly that scale.

If you only play on PC, plan around a wait. Zelnick's comments show Take-Two knows what PC is worth, but the clearest thing he said is that Rockstar starts on console, and nothing has been announced. GamesBeat's sources point to early 2027, which would be a short wait by Rockstar's standards, but it's still only a report. Leak-era claims about a PC build don't change that.

If you're on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S, there's no need to rush. A digital copy can't sell out, and any purchase before November 20 still includes the Vintage Vice City Pack, so you can wait for the first reviews. Pre-ordering digitally adds the GTA+ month and the November 12 pre-load, and the boxed code lets you pre-load too. Of everything here, only the Collector's box is sold as limited, and it doesn't include the game.
