Rockstar's GTA 6 Launch Trailer, released on October 15, 2026, runs just 90 seconds. We went through Rockstar's original 4K file frame by frame, all 46 shots, and found 34 details you can't catch at normal speed: a call from Lucia in prison, Jason's army past, a crypto company's stunt plane, a helicopter smashing through a skyscraper and a brand-new Justice song. Here is every one, in trailer order, with what Rockstar shows and what's only our read. The video above walks through all 34 on screen.
Jason in the Keys: details 1 to 10
The trailer opens in the Keys, before any of this goes wrong. Timestamps are from Rockstar's trailer.
Details 1 to 3: the Keys and Jason's army past
Official The very first thing you see (0:03) is a road sign: "Welcome to The Keys." That's the Leonida Keys, the region where Jason is living when we meet him. Our Leonida map guide covers the region.
Official Then Jason speaks:
I got in some trouble in the army. Didn't leave on the best of terms.
Jason Duval, GTA 6 Launch Trailer
That matches his official Rockstar bio: after a stint in the Army, Jason ended up in the Keys, working for local drug runners. Official Rockstar backs it up with wardrobe, too. Later in the trailer (0:41), Jason wears a faded U.S. Army T-shirt, and a freeze-frame makes the print readable: "Marauders, Combat Training School."
Details 4 and 5: Brian's Marina and "Rent a Rack"
Official The drone shot that follows is Brian's Marina. Rockstar's character pages describe Brian Heder as a drug runner from the golden age of smuggling who still moves product through his boat yard, so this is the place. Every bio is in our GTA 6 characters guide.
Official Freeze the aerial at 0:05 and you can read the banner on the boat racks: "Rent a Rack", with a phone number that starts with 786. That's Miami's real area code, followed by the classic 555.

Detail 6: two different Jasons
Official Here's Jason at work, buffing a boat hull with a polisher. Notice his hair: long, with a full beard. Now compare him with the Jason who drives Lucia around Vice City later in the trailer: short hair and sunglasses.
Rumor Our read: this trailer focuses on the early story, and especially on Jason. Long-haired Jason is Jason just out of the army, working for Brian, before he met Lucia.
Details 7 to 10: a parody boat, a loan and a call from prison
- 7. The "Shasa" cruiser (0:10). Official Inside the marina shed, the cruiser on the stand carries a brand name: "Shasa". It's another Rockstar parody, this time of the boats you'd see in any Florida marina.
- 8. The money problem. Official Jason's next line explains the motive: the banks won't give a loan to people like him. That's why they need the easy score.
- 9. A collect call from prison. Official An automated voice announces a free call from Lucia Caminos: a collect call from prison. Lucia is calling Jason, and he takes it. In Trailer 2 we saw Jason at the prison's visitor window; now we know they talk on the phone too.
- 10. Seaplanes everywhere (0:14). Official Jason ends up on a seawall with a seaplane moored right in front of him. Seaplanes keep showing up around him: one flies over the highway in the opening shot, with a blimp on the horizon over the marina, and an official screenshot has Jason holding a pistol beside one.

Welcome to Vice City: details 11 to 19
Then the trailer moves to the city, and the details turn to side activities, Florida Man and fast food.
- 11. The iguana (0:21). Official Vice City opens with a small detail: an iguana gets its own close-up on the side of the road. In real South Florida, iguanas are everywhere, and Rockstar clearly knows it.
- 12. Jason on the train tracks (0:49). Official That's Jason on a dirt bike, riding along the elevated train tracks right next to the train cars. Vice City has an elevated rail line, like Miami's Metrorail. Rumor Our read: the city is going to be packed with side quests and stunts like this.
Detail 13: DacityCoin, powered by AudaCity
Official The best satire in the trailer: a pink stunt plane over a packed Vice Beach, trailing pink smoke, with a wing-walker standing on the top wing (0:56). Freeze the frame at 0:57 and the side of the plane reads "DacityCoin, powered by AudaCity". A crypto coin with its own stunt plane is about as Rockstar as parody gets.

Details 14 to 17: the gym, Florida Man and Real Dimez
- 14. The gym (0:57). Official A shirtless, heavily tattooed man in a durag works the cable machine. Vice City takes fitness seriously.
- 15. Cal Hampton? (0:59). Official The most Florida shot of all: a man sprawled in a chair, holding a giant snake, with fast food and a game controller on the table. Rumor Our read: that's Cal Hampton, Jason's friend from Rockstar's character pages, living his best Florida Man life.
- 16. A Real Dimez music video? (1:00). Official Two women in pink and purple ski masks pose with gold rifles in front of a curtain. Rumor Our read: this is part of a Real Dimez music video. Official Real Dimez is the rap duo signed to Dre'Quan Priest's label.
- 17. Real Dimez, live (0:45). Official And there they are on stage, performing in a club full of purple lights.
Details 18 and 19: a bar knife and new road signs
Official Detail 18 is a bar fight (0:42), and that's Jason getting choked and slid down a neon bar counter. Look at his hand: he's reaching for a bar knife, the kind bartenders use to open bottles, lying on a tray.
Official Detail 19 is a night chase under the highway signs (1:04). Freeze it on the right frame and they're readable: "Shoreline Amphitheater, Marina", "Interstate 397 East, Port VC", and a green sign that says "Keep Vice Nice". Those are new place names for the Vice City map.
Jason's past and the heists: details 20 to 30
The middle of the trailer is action, but much of it looks like backstory. Where we read a shot as Jason's past, it's labelled as our read.
Details 20 to 22: Jason's army missions
- 20. Night vision in the mangroves (0:29). Official An armed team with night-vision goggles wades through the mangroves at sunset, and the one in front is Jason. Rumor Our read: this is his backstory, in the army or special forces.
- 21. Brass knuckles (0:30). Official Long-haired Jason slides on brass knuckles under a red exit sign. Rumor Our guess at the timeline: after the army, before Lucia, while he's working for Brian.
- 22. Before a mission. Official Jason again, in a plate carrier and a headset, inside an aircraft at night with the city lights out the open door. Rumor Our read: more of his army past, right before a mission.
Detail 23: Lucia in the vault
Official A bank vault (0:36): a huge round vault door, cash flying through the air, and two women walking in. Look closely and one of them is Lucia. Rumor Our guess: this is the heist that went south, and the reason Lucia ended up in prison.

Details 24 to 26: lasers, a skyscraper and a helicopter at night
- 24. Security lasers (0:54). Official Green and red security lasers in the dark, and Jason moving through them. Rumor Another army mission, we think.
- 25. A helicopter through a skyscraper (1:08). Official The biggest moment in the trailer: a helicopter swings a huge netted load like a wrecking ball, straight through the glass of a skyscraper. Reported Dexerto thinks the load is part of a bank vault. Either way, it's a heist with a helicopter.
- 26. Jason outside a helicopter (1:10). Official This isn't just anyone: it's Jason, climbing out of a helicopter high above the city at night. Is this the first time we've seen Vice City like this, from a helicopter after dark?
Details 27 to 30: the airport, the fire and a county sheriff
- 27. Lucia and the landing gear (0:39). Official At the airport, a pickup races under a jet, and that's Lucia, jumping for the landing gear. Trailer 2 showed Lucia fighting on a plane's ramp right next to the landing gear. Rumor Our read: same mission.
- 28. The exploding helicopter (0:53). Official A rooftop helipad at night, with short-haired Jason in front, and the focus of the shot is the helicopter exploding behind him. Rockstar clearly wanted this one seen: the fire and the physics look next level.
- 29. Lucia under fire (1:13). Official Lucia, in a cap and a plate carrier, fires a rifle in broad daylight, with an explosion right behind her and a police car burning in the background.
- 30. Mariana County Sheriff (1:11). Official Out in the woods at night, Sheriff's SUVs chase someone, and the door reads "Mariana County". So it isn't only the Vice City police: Leonida's counties have their own sheriffs.
The story clues: details 31 to 34
31. Lucia's ankle monitor
Official Bare feet in a shower (0:52), and a tag around one ankle blinking red. Asked about Lucia's ankle tag in IGN's interview of October 7, Rockstar North's Rob Nelson said it's part of the story:
The ankle tag is part of the narrative and part of the way we bring Jason and Lucia together.
Rob Nelson, Rockstar North, to IGN
Now the trailer shows it up close. More in our Rob Nelson interview breakdown and Jason and Lucia relationship explainer.

32. Raul's chicken bucket
Official A night construction site (1:02): Raul Bautista, with Jason and Lucia. Look at what Raul is holding: a red-and-white bucket of fried chicken that looks a lot like a KFC bucket. Rumor After the fast food at Cal's place, our guess is that Vice City is full of fast-food chains you can actually buy from.
33. The gold sequin dress in all three trailers
Official The last shot before the logo (1:14): Lucia in a gold sequin dress, pulling Jason by the hand into a blue-lit club. A gold sequin dress like it also shows up in Trailer 1 at 0:25 and in Trailer 2 at 1:34, on a yacht. Rumor Our read: they're parts of the same mission, teased across all three trailers.
34. The GTA 6 launch trailer song: "Flower in a Hurricane"
Official The music is a brand-new single from Justice, the duo behind the game's original score: "Flower in a Hurricane", featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard. Official Rockstar's Newswire says it's on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, and that an official score album is coming too. For the in-game music, see our GTA 6 radio stations guide.

Our take: what the launch trailer says about the story
Our read: the Launch Trailer is mostly about the early story, and mostly about Jason. Rockstar keeps cutting between two versions of him. Long hair and a beard in the Keys, with the army trouble, Brian's boat yard, the loan he can't get and the call from prison. Short hair in the city, with the heists, helicopters and Lucia at his side. Put those pieces in order and you get a rough timeline: the army, then the Keys and Brian, then Lucia's call, then Vice City as a couple. The vault may be Lucia's half of the same story.
None of that is confirmed. Rockstar hasn't said how the story is told, and a trailer edit can pull scenes from anywhere in the game. What the trailer does confirm is texture: a crypto plane over the beach, county sheriffs, parody boat brands, new road signs and fast food on two different tables. That density is the real tease.
