GTA 6 Parody Brands: Every Fake Brand and What It Mocks
Rockstar is selling a $399.99 box of merch for a cartoon alligator from a TV show that only exists in Leonida. That's the clearest sign yet that GTA satire is back. Here is every parody shown so far, what each one is aimed at, and what's still only a fan theory.
This article is the written companion to our video. Watch it on YouTube and subscribe to GameSight for every GTA 6 breakdown.

GTA 6's parody brands are already everywhere, and Rockstar is now selling one of them for real. The $399.99 Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is merch for Macca the Gator, the star of a TV show that only exists inside the game. Below is every parody Rockstar has shown so far in the trailers, the Extended Look and the previews, what each one is aimed at, and which links to real brands are only fan readings.
The full video breakdown is above. This guide adds the sources for every brand and leaves out details we couldn't trace.
The Goodtime State: Leonida itself is the first joke
Official Rockstar calls Leonida "the Goodtime State", and the name is all over the marketing, down to the collector's box. Real Florida calls itself the Sunshine State. Our read: Rockstar took a tourism slogan and made it slightly too honest, which sets the tone for everything else in the state.
Official The places carry the same wink. Rockstar's own description of Vice City lists the Tisha-Wocka flea market, known for its bootleg brands, a fake market for fake goods in a city of fake brands. Our GTA 6 map guide covers how Vice City's districts line up with real Miami.
Leonida Man
Reported The biggest running joke has been in plain sight since Trailer 1. The trailer is cut from phone clips, livestreams and social posts of Leonida residents doing things that shouldn't be possible, the game's version of the "Florida Man" headlines. Sportskeeda spotted an in-game account called PlanetLeonidaMan in the trailer.
Reported A lot of those clips weren't invented. Know Your Meme lined them up with real viral videos: a man doing yard work almost naked (2018), a trapper dragging an alligator out of a pool (2019), an alligator walking into a store (2013), a woman twerking on a moving car on a Miami causeway (2017) and a woman confronting a neighbor with a hammer in each hand (2020). Not all of them are from Florida: the hammer video, for one, was filmed in Los Angeles.
Reported That hammer clip has a sequel. Fan wiki GTA Wiki reports that in the Extended Look, Jason and Lucia find the same "Hammer Lady" smashing their car outside her apartment complex. Rockstar has never commented on any of the real videos.
Macca the Gator and the $399.99 box
Official Rockstar describes Macca the Gator as the star of Leonida's hit TV show. The character fronts two real products. Goodtime Gear is a Macca-themed clothing line in the Ultimate Edition. The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection is a physical box sold on the Rockstar Store for $399.99, shipping November 19, game sold separately.
Reported Kotaku lists its 11 items, including:
- a Macca the Gator figure with a hidden stash compartment in its base
- a Macca the Gator magnetic mirror
- a Chunkee the Manatee shot glass
- a Vice City razor blade keychain and a sticker pack "in stash bag"
- Oakley Frogskins sunglasses, a New Era snapback and a double-sided poster with a full map of Leonida
Our read: a cartoon alligator sold with a stash compartment, a mirror and a razor blade keychain is Rockstar winking about exactly what kind of good time the Goodtime State runs on. The full list is in our editions guide.
The internet was angry about the price, and fairly so. But a GTA game has mocked overpriced, mascot-driven American merch for 25 years, and now Rockstar sells real $400 merch for a fictional cartoon. That's either greed or the most GTA thing Rockstar has done. It might be both.
Megamundo and Mega Noticias: the media empire

Official Megamundo is the parody that matters most to the story. In the Extended Look, Jason and Lucia are hired to protect Andres de Leon, who works for it, and they meet Petra Navarro, introduced as Megamundo's COO. Reported GamesRadar+ calls Megamundo a Spanish-language TV network.
Official The party is for Megamundo's "first corporate headquarters on American soil", and it ends with masked gunmen in white coveralls storming the building. Megamundo's news arm, Mega Noticias, appeared even earlier: in Trailer 1 its broadcast covers an arrest, with a badge reading "Corrections" on screen.
Our read: in a game about how media and social feeds shape what people believe, putting a media company at the center of the story is not an accident. The whole mission is in our GTA 6 story guide.
The TV ads: Angstipan and the Prairie Sandwich
GTA's fake commercials have always been some of its sharpest writing, and the Extended Look packs two into about 30 seconds while Jason waits for Lucia.
Reported GamesBeat reports an ad for a fake drug called Angstipan. Our read: it's aimed at American prescription drug ads, with their cheerful music and long lists of side effects. The US is one of the very few countries that allows those ads on TV, which makes them a perfect Rockstar target.
Official Right after it, what looks like a nature documentary turns into a commercial for the Prairie Sandwich, which IGN says packs "a light 30,000 calories". Reported GamesBeat calls the fast-food brand "reminiscent of Arby's", and fans told Notebookcheck that the ad's landscape looks like a location from Red Dead Redemption 2.
Our read: that's the joke about modern media in one shot. You can't tell where the content ends and the ad begins.
Influencers, Snapmatic and the algorithm

This is where GTA 6's satire has moved furthest from GTA 5. Official Rockstar told LOVE magazine that GTA V satirized smartphones and social media through Lifeinvader and Bleeter, and that in the 13 years since, the world has only sped up. In GTA 5 those were websites you visited. In GTA 6, social media is how the world is shown to you: both trailers are cut together from vertical phone clips and livestreams.
Reported The best example is in the Extended Look. Engadget's breakdown notes a montage where Jason and Lucia "throw an influencer in their trunk", and GamesBeat confirms a livestreamer turns up in one of the missions. Something terrible happens to him, and his viewer count goes up. That's the whole satire in one scene.
Official Real Dimez, the rap duo on Rockstar's character pages, are built on the same idea: Rockstar says they turned "shaking down local dealers" into hits through rap tracks and "a relentless social media presence".
Official Snapmatic, GTA's Instagram, is back, but Jason and Lucia can only browse and follow. Reported IGN says the reason is that they're "a couple on the run". Our read: in a world where everyone performs online, the two leads are the only people who can't. It puts you outside the feed, looking in.
The phone apps
Official Your GTA 6 phone is full of parody apps. Rockstar hasn't said what each one is mocking, so the targets below are our read:
| App | What it does | Our read: the real target |
|---|---|---|
| WAiNK | Scans a car: security, tools needed, tracker, value and registration cost (Game Informer, IGN) | A car-shopping app, reworked as a car thief's best friend. Say the name out loud |
| RydeMe | Ride-share used as fast travel; you can chat with other passengers (Game Informer) | Uber and Lyft |
| BuckMe | Your money app (Reported GTA BOOM; its use isn't detailed yet) | Peer-to-peer apps like Cash App and Venmo |
| WhatUp | Messaging (Reported GTA BOOM; use not detailed) | |
| Snapmatic | Browse posts and follow accounts, no posting |
WAiNK matters for play, too: it tells you which tool a car needs before you try to steal it. Our car theft guide explains the tiers, and our GTA 6 money guide covers how BuckMe changes what happens to your cash.
The classics are back

Longtime players will recognize a lot of names. Official Rockstar's own pages bring back the car makers: the '55 Vapid Stanier, the Vapid Ganado pickup, Dinka motorbikes and the Ultimate Edition's '95 Grotti Cheetah, GTA's long-running Ferrari stand-in. Reported Fans have also spotted Pißwasser, the German-style beer whose name you shouldn't translate, on a banner in Trailer 1.
Reported And there's a deep cut for Vice City fans. GTA Wiki reports that a bartender in the Extended Look wears a Love Fist top, the fictional rock band from 2002's Vice City. Given what Rockstar charges for Macca merch, 24-year-old Love Fist merch still being around feels like part of the joke.
Why Rockstar uses fake brands: our take
Reported Part of it is business. Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick has said GTA 6 won't have product placement or brand deals, because its world is invented and every brand in it is made up. Real companies also don't tend to license their logos to a game where you can rob their stores.
Our read is that the creative reason matters more. Parody gives Rockstar freedom. If Coca-Cola were in GTA 6, Rockstar couldn't make it funny. Because eCola is fake, Rockstar can say whatever it likes about it, and through it about the real thing. That's why the satire lands on drug ads, ride-share apps and influencers rather than on any one company.
It also explains the box. For 25 years GTA has mocked fake mascots, overpriced merch and the idea that you can sell people anything if the branding is loud enough. Selling a $399.99 Macca the Gator box before the game is even out turns that joke on the buyer. Whether you call it satire or greed, it's very on brand. The launch is close: our countdown tracks the days to November 19, and the Launch Trailer breakdown covers the newest footage.
FAQ
Does GTA 6 have real brands?
No. Reported Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick says GTA 6 has no product placement or brand partnerships, because the game's world and all its brands are made up. Every company you see, from Megamundo to the Prairie Sandwich, is a Rockstar invention.
What is Macca the Gator?
Official Macca the Gator is the cartoon star of Leonida's hit TV show inside GTA 6. He fronts Goodtime Gear, an Ultimate Edition clothing line, and The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection, a $399.99 merch box from the Rockstar Store that ships November 19 without the game.
What do the GTA 6 phone apps parody?
Rockstar hasn't said. Our read: RydeMe is Uber or Lyft, WhatUp is WhatsApp, BuckMe is Cash App or Venmo and Snapmatic is Instagram. WAiNK, which scans a car before you steal it, plays on car-shopping apps, and its name is a joke on its own.
What is the Angstipan ad in GTA 6?
Reported It's a TV commercial for a fake drug that plays in the Extended Look while Jason waits for Lucia, according to GamesBeat. Our read is that it mocks American prescription drug ads, which very few countries allow on TV.
Is Leonida Man real?
Leonida Man is GTA 6's version of the "Florida Man" meme. Reported Many of Trailer 1's clips copy real viral videos, though not all are from Florida, and Rockstar has never commented on them. An in-game account called PlanetLeonidaMan was spotted in the trailer.
Is the $400 GTA 6 box worth it?
Only for collectors. Official It holds 11 items, from a Macca figure to a Leonida map poster, but no copy of the game. Most players get more from the $99.99 Ultimate Edition, which our editions guide breaks down item by item.
