GTA 6 Reviews and Metacritic Score: Live Roundup
GTA 6's reviews are reported to land on November 18, the day before launch. This page is built to fill in as they go live: scores, one-line verdicts and the Metacritic and OpenCritic averages. Until then, here's what we know.

In this article
GTA 6's reviews aren't out yet. They're reported to go live on November 18, 2026, the day before the game launches, and this page will collect them as they arrive: each outlet's score and verdict, plus the Metacritic and OpenCritic averages. Rockstar Games hasn't announced the embargo itself, so treat the date as reported until reviews actually appear.
When do GTA 6 reviews come out?
Reported On October 26, NateTheHate, a well-known GTA leaker, wrote that the GTA 6 review embargo is November 18. Insider Gaming reported the claim the same day and said it could independently verify it. The same post said Rockstar had begun sending review code to media, and Beebom and other outlets have repeated both points since.
That timing would give critics roughly three weeks with the game, and put their verdicts out about a day before players start the rolling midnight unlock on November 18 and 19.
The hour is less clear. Several outlets have quoted different times, and Insider Gaming's report doesn't give one. Until Rockstar or a reviewer confirms it, we'd plan around "sometime on November 18".

GTA 6 review scores
The scores go here on November 18: each major outlet's score, a one-line summary of its verdict without story spoilers, and a link to the full review. We'll add outlets as their reviews go live and note which platform each one played on.
| Outlet | Score | Verdict in one line |
|---|---|---|
| Reviews not out yet | – | Reported to go live on November 18, 2026 |
How we'll list the reviews
- Only published reviews. No predicted scores, no "insider" numbers, no screenshots of unpublished reviews.
- Scores exactly as given. Some outlets score out of 10, some out of 100, some use stars, and some give no number at all. We'll show each verdict the way the outlet gives it.
- Reviews in progress. Big games sometimes get a "review in progress" first and a final score days later, especially if online features or launch servers need testing. We'll mark those and update them when the final verdict lands.
- Platform noted. If an outlet says which console it played on, we'll show it.
Metacritic and OpenCritic: how the averages work
Two sites turn dozens of reviews into one number, and you'll see both quoted on launch day.
- Metacritic gives a Metascore from 0 to 100, a weighted average of critics' scores. It keeps separate pages for each platform, so GTA 6 will have one score for PS5 and another for Xbox Series X.
- OpenCritic shows a Top Critic Average and the percentage of critics who recommend the game, with a tier such as "Mighty" at the top.
Both numbers move a lot in the first hours, as more reviews come in. We'll post them once at least a few dozen reviews are counted, and update them through launch week.

How Rockstar's last games reviewed
Reported Rockstar's two previous big releases set the bar about as high as it goes. According to GameSpot, GTA V holds a 97 on Metacritic on PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PS4, and Red Dead Redemption 2 holds a 97 on both PlayStation and Xbox. When Metacritic ranked the best games of 2010 to 2019, both sat in a five-way tie at the top, as VGC reported.
That history is why the GTA 6 score matters to so many people. It's also why even a very good score could be read as a disappointment if it lands below Rockstar's last two.
What reviews can and can't tell you
Reviews are the best early guide to the story, the world and how it plays. Some things are harder to judge before launch:
- Launch-day patch. Reviewers usually play before any day-one update. Our patch notes page will track what changes.
- Servers and busy launch nights. Review copies run on quiet servers, not the launch-night rush.
- Performance on every console. Check which console each review used, especially if you play on Xbox Series S.
- Online play. Official None of Rockstar's edition announcements mention an online mode for GTA 6, so reviews may not cover one.
- Your own taste. A score is an average of opinions. Read what each reviewer liked and disliked, not just the number, and look for the ones who share your taste.

Our take
Our read is that November 18 is solid. A respected leaker and an outlet that says it verified the date agree, and a review embargo the day before launch is common for games this size. What we can't predict is the score. Rockstar's last two games both hit 97, and the GTA 6 shown so far looks built to aim just as high. On the day, we'll stick to what the reviews say and keep spoilers out.
